02 Surface Protection – Step 2, top coat
Top coat (step 2 of 2) and maintenance of wood outdoors that has received a base coat of OrganoWood® 01 Wood Protection. The fluid has a whitish colour but becomes transparent when dry. Treated surfaces are diffusion-open.

Area of application
This top coat is used to give wood water-repellent properties, reducing the risk of surface growth of mould and algae, and creating a smooth surface that is easier to clean.
Once the fluid has dried and the surface protection hardened, a hydrophobic surface is created around the wood fibres, which reduces the penetration of water and waterborne dirt. It also reduces the movement of moisture in the wood, which counteracts cracking and leads to a more even greying process. The water-repellent effect will be noticeable after a day or so, but the full effect takes approximately 2–3 weeks. At lower temperatures, the hardening process may take longer.

If necessary, re-treat with 02 Surface Protection, e.g. if the surface frequently becomes worn or after heavy-duty cleaning. Tip: Once the wood starts to absorb water immediately, it is time to re-treat it.
Environmentally adapted and environmentally classified
OrganoWood® 02 Surface Protection is water-based and consists of silicon minerals and natural plant substances. 02 Surface Protection is listed in the Swan Ecolabel Building Product Portal and can be used in Swan eco-labelled buildings. It has also been awarded environmental classification B by SundaHus and is recommended by Byggvarubedömningen and BASTA.
Environment, safety and shelf life
Clean equipment with water. The product is acidic. Eye and hand protection should be worn. In case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water. Store at 5–30°C. The product must not be exposed to frost. Shelf life in well-sealed packaging 2 years. Once poured, do not pour the product back into the packaging.
The product is not classified as environmentally hazardous waste. However, we recommend that leftover concentrated fluid is taken to a recycling centre. Recycle the packaging as plastic.
Maintenance
Maintenance washing with OrganoWood® Wood Cleaner is recommended. If the surface is mechanically worn, for example where people often walk or move furniture, or if the surface is washed with a strong wood cleaner or high-pressure washing (should be avoided), the wood fibres in the surface layer may be worn away and thus also the treatment. If necessary, re-treat with 02 Surface Protection.
